Think Yourself Thin
You may or may not have heard the term think yourself thin when researching the many ways of losing weight and wondered what it actually meant. Many people who have heard of this method imagine its simply a way of exerting your willpower on your body to force it to burn calories and lose weight, but there is a little more to it than that.
This article loos at the process where you can train your mind to work for you in altering your state of being so that you actually do think yourself thin!
The Power of the Mind
The mind is an incredibly powerful thing and when it's working on your behalf to keep your body in equilibrium an all aspects, then you have no need to go trying to change things because it's all done for you. Its only when things get out of whack that you need to make changes in order to bring everything back onto balance, because our bodies are natural, living breathing entities and therefore respond best to natural approaches when things go awry.
So when you start gaining weight for whatever reason, what is happening on the inside is that your body is not coping with the level of nutrients you are putting into it and it needs a way to do that to bring a halt to the weight gain and revert back to its natural weight. To do this, the weight loss industry has generated a monster in the sheer volume of products and services that are currently available to help people get back to the weight they want to be. But is any of it really necessary?
Actually, no its not! But that's a sweeping statement that will not hold true for the majority of people, simply because the majority of people have lost their way in terms of understanding how their bodies and minds work in harmony to keep the balance of health and well being. Too many people scoff at the natural ways of doing things simply because they have gotten caught up in a modern way of life that has no room for the natural and relies too heavily on the artificial to live a normal life.
But this article isn't for anyone who is not prepared to listen, so I won't bother trying to preach any kind of alternative gospel that anyone should anything they don't feel comfortable in doing. If you're open minded and atuned to working with your body and with nature, then this is for you. If not, then please try one of the advertisers on this page, such as Nutrisystem or the South Beach Diet as they also work very well!
Using your mind to make your body slim is not a new idea, as its been used by the Chinese for thousands of years. But its technique is easy enough to apply and is based in meditation and positive thinking. That's about all, really, so there's nothing ground breaking here! Well, I said it was natural, and there's little that is more simple than the natural!
You need to relax and remove stress from your life, to begin with. Meditation is an excellent way to do this as it grounds you and allows you to free your mind from the encumbrances of modern life while centering on your own body and state of mind. Once you have gained a reasonable control of your thoughts, you then should begin to focus your thoughts on imagining or visualizing yourself as you would appear while actually at your perfect weight and body size. This takes some practise so don't expect results overnight. But with plenty of time and not rushing things, you will eventually be able to create the visualization that you want and then add some feeling into the visualization. Feel yourself walking around in that perfect body. feel the clothes that you're wearing and feel how comfortable you are wearing them. Feel them loose and well fitting, feel yourself walking around and feeling light, lithe, free and above all happy!
Do this often and as time goes by you will find that you are less keen to eat bad foods because you'll simply not feel like eating them, rather that trying to exert your will to stop yourself. You know only too well what that ends up with - a temptation that gets stronger the more you try to resist it! So this method does the exact opposite. By not trying to push the food that you don't want to eat away, you simply lose interest in it and find yourself eating less and wanting to get up and move about more as a way to exercise your muscles so they conform to your vision of litheness and suppleness.
The upshot of this change in your behaviour is that your body will start to lose weight because your metabolism improves naturally and your muscles become stronger and demand more energy which your body must provide from its store of fat. And you did it all with your mind. You literally thought yourself thin!
